The next layer

Smart auto-approval

Not just a fixed daily cap. The system learns each agent's usage pattern and approves automatically within a risk profile — no human friction, real protection against compromised agents.

Open, portable agent identity

An agent's reputation travels across platforms. No more per-provider identity silos. Neutral, portable KYA — like OAuth, but for agents. Whoever controls this layer becomes critical infrastructure.

Delegated spend governance

Define spend policy on-chain — not just a number a backend blindly trusts.

"this agent can spend up to $500/month on data""needs human approval above $50/call""auto-approved within risk profile""executed verifiably on-chain"

FAQ

x402 is the implementation of HTTP 402, the Payment Required status code that has existed in the HTTP specification since 1991 but was never used. In April 2026, x402 joined the Linux Foundation with Google, AWS, Microsoft, Stripe, Visa and Mastercard as founding members. It defines how a server tells a client it needs to pay, and how the client proves payment was made, all over standard HTTP. Metera is the Solana native implementation of this protocol.
If you are a provider, you need a Solana wallet address to receive USDC, any wallet works, including Phantom. If you are connecting an AI agent, Metera creates a Solana wallet for you automatically via Privy when you click create agent wallet. You do not need to install anything or manage private keys yourself.
The agent reads a single URL, your skill.md, which contains the wallet address, spending limits and instructions. When the agent calls a paid endpoint without payment, it receives an HTTP 402 response with payment details. The agent signs a USDC transaction on Solana, retries the request with proof of payment, and Metera verifies it on chain before returning the real response. The whole flow takes under a second.
Every agent wallet has configurable spending limits, maximum per call, per hour, per day and per month. If any limit is reached, Metera returns 402 with PLAN_LIMIT_REACHED and no payment is processed. You can also restrict an agent to a specific allowlist of APIs or block specific ones entirely.
API keys require a signup flow, billing setup and human account management, none of which an autonomous agent can do. Metera lets any agent discover and pay for your API in real time with no account, no subscription and no human approval. You set the price per call and receive USDC directly to your wallet, Metera takes 0%.
No. If you have any existing API, REST endpoint or backend service, you can list it on Metera regardless of what stack you built it in. Metera only needs the URL and a price, the Solana and x402 logic is handled entirely by the proxy. You receive USDC, which you can convert to your local currency through any exchange.
Metera verifies payment on chain before proxying the request to your API. If your API returns an error after that point, the payment has already settled to your wallet, the same as any pay per use service. We recommend keeping your endpoint reliable since uptime and latency are visible to agents in the marketplace and affect whether they choose your API again.
Yes. The dashboard shows every call made to your endpoints, including timestamp, amount paid, response status and the paying wallet address. Pro and Enterprise plans include revenue breakdowns, latency percentiles and CSV export for accounting.

Removing the roadblocks between your API and revenue

Most monetization stacks take weeks to set up. Metera takes minutes. We handle payments, discovery, and on-chain verification so you can focus on building.

Real revenue, instantly

USDC lands in your Solana wallet per call. No invoices, no monthly payouts, no banks. Revenue flows the moment agents use your API.

Full visibility

See every call, every payment, every agent. Revenue breakdowns, latency data, and wallet activity — all in the dashboard.

Built for agents

AI agents discover your API, pay autonomously via x402, and retry with proof of payment. No human in the loop required.
